Traveling To Basket Land?
Here's What We Think About
Places We've Experienced!
RAILROAD
HOUSE RESTAURANT
* We were in Dresden
last month and ate at the Railroad House. Make sure you are really hungry or
share with a friend. The food was wonderful and there was plenty of it.
* Was just there two weekends ago. It isn't fancy but the food was
really good and inexpensive. Paid about $5 for a hamburger, fries
and a side salad. I liked it. Just plain, tho.
* The Railroad House in Dresden (located at the
junction of Lacy Alley and 9th St.) can accomodate a large bus group
easily! We think their food is pretty good!
* I have eaten at the Railroad House Cafe
and it is WONDERFUL!!! I hear that they also do carry out
lunches but you have to give them a lot of notice.
THE
VILLAGE VICTORIAN BED & BREAKFAST
* We stayed at The Village Victorian bed & breakfast
and it was wonderful. Dick & Rita Parsons have a beautiful house and they
are most gracious hosts. It was nice because we met girls from 2 other states
that were as crazy about baskets as we were. It was fun. We had never stayed
at a bed & breakfast before and are sure we would not have met anyone if
we had stayed at a motel. They also have the Ivey B & B that we went
through and it was really pretty too.
CHERRY VALLEY
LODGE
* I'll tell you, you won't regret going to the Cherry
Valley Lodge. It's absolutely gorgeous! All my customers raved about
it. The rooms are nice, the pool and workout room are open 24 hrs.
It's beautifully decorated. Lovely pond in back with a walking path around
it, ducks and little waterfalls. A gazebo, it's really beautiful. I
would definitely recommend it. I won't stay anywhere else when I go down
there.
* I'll be taking my third bus trip to Dresden on
September 30, and we will once again be staying at the Cherry Valley Lodge. (I
already have reservations for October 2001!) It's beautiful and
the guests love it. It's a 2-story hotel in a hexagon shape. All
rooms have either a balcony or a terrace, and in the open section of the
hexagon there is a lake with a gazebo. Very beautiful and peaceful.
The rooms are extra large, and most have 2 queen size beds (hate those doubles
if you're sharing a bed), with a nice sitting/TV area. There's also a
refrigerator and coffee maker in every room. A continental breakfast is
included in the room rate (coffee, tea, juices, bagels & pastries and your
choice of either a fresh fruit platter or a hot breakfast casserole).
They have a really nice indoor pool and Jacuzzi. Their prices are a
little higher than the local motels, but the people on my bus trips feel
it's worth the extra dollars. I've always dealt with Debi DeLozier in
the Sales Office, and she's really great to work with. If you call her,
tell her Nancy in Delaware says "hi".
* I can truly recommend the Lodge, I have stayed there
many times and I have also taken several tours down there. I have also
stayed at the Place, but enjoy the Cherry Valley Lodge more. They
really go out of their way to make you comfortable, the rooms are so
spacious that four people can stay in them easily. Talk to Debi
Delozier, she is very helpful 1-800-788-8008. Mary Jane
* I just returned from a bus trip this weekend
and we stayed at Cherry Valley. It was wonderful! Debi Delozier
was fantastic in helping me get everything planned. Someone came out
to meet the bus when we arrived to give us everyone's key so no one had to
wait to check in! The hotel is beautiful. You will not be
disappointed.
AMERIHOST
INN @ ZANESVILLE
* I stayed here during the time of the BEE this year
and really liked the Amerihost Inn. The rooms were clean and I loved
having the pool and hot tub in the evening!!! The continental breakfast was
just the bare basics but for FREE
I left full!!!! Also within a very short walking distance (just across
the driveway!) is the Cracker Barrell Rest. for those who might want to eat
or shop there also.
* We are going to the Amerihost next
week. The pool is wonderful. Has a simple breakfast - not much
room for a group. A Cracker Barrel is located within walking
distance. Located off of Interstate 70, so they are convenient
to get to. Good luck planning your trip! -Robin K. in NJ
* The Hampton has a nice breakfast included. Steak and Shake,
Bob Evans, Olive Garden and a Mexican restaurant within walking distance if
you need a place to eat another meal or grab a snack. The Steak and Shake is
open 24 hrs. Located off of Interstate 70. New and nice.
* My husband, son and I stayed at the Hampton
Inn over Labor Day weekend a few years back for the Barn Raising. We
really enjoyed our stay. The rooms were very clean and the staff was
pleasant. The location is convienent also. They had a room for the
continental breakfast that was kept stocked. Hmmmmm, I think it's time for
another trip to Dresden! Dotti - PA
